MINOR SURGERY

A wide range of operations are performed under local anaesthesia i.e. by making the area numb while still awake, rather than giving a “General anaesthetic” which entails “putting patients to sleep”.

Some minor operative procedures are listed below, but this list is not exhaustive and we will discuss and assess other conditions and procedures not mentioned below. The most common minor operative procedures performed under local anesthesia are as follows :

1. Sebaecous Cyst Removal

2. Mole Assessment and Removal

3. Lipoma Removal

4. Skin Tag Removal

5. Ganglion Cyst treatment

6. Scar Revision

7. Ingrown toenails / ingrowing toenails

8. Wart removal

9. Skin cancer removal

10. Joint injections

What to expect when you arrive for your Minor Operation

Before your surgery, Mr. Roy will explain the procedure in detail, the aftercare and possible risks and side effects. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions about the procedure being performed and/or any alternative treatments – including what would result if you decided not to have surgery. Provided you are happy to proceed, you will then be asked to sign a consent form.

We would like to emphasise that any procedures involving cutting the skin will result in a scar. This is because of the biological fact that skin does not regenerate and whenever cut, heals with a scar. Rarely a scar may be more obvious than the original lesion.
